Vespa GTS 150 vs GTS 250 Compared: A Guide to Choosing a Big Premium Scooter to Suit Your Needs
Vespa GTS 150 vs Vespa GTS 250: Which Is the Best Choice for You?
For fans of big-bodied automatic scooters, the Vespa GTS line has always held a special appeal thanks to its distinctive wide-body look, which combines elegance and masculinity. Choosing between the Vespa GTS 150 (such as the GTS Classic 150 or GTS Super Sport 150) and the Vespa GTS 250 (GTS 250 HPE) calls for weighing performance, specifications and estimated price against your daily needs. Understanding the fundamental differences between the two will help you decide which scooter is best to accompany your daily activities and long-distance trips.
Under the bonnet, the Vespa GTS 150 relies on a 155 cc i-get engine, single-cylinder, 4-valve and liquid-cooled, designed to be efficient and very comfortable for daily use in urban areas. The Vespa GTS 250, on the other hand, carries a 249 cc HPE (High Performance Engine) that delivers a maximum power of 16.5 kW (about 22.1 hp) at 7,750 rpm and peak torque of 22.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This performance difference also affects engine oil capacity: the GTS 150 needs about 1.1 litres of oil while the GTS 250 needs 1.3 litres. That makes the GTS 250 far more powerful, responsive and stable for touring.
Although they differ in engine capacity, both models keep the high safety standards typical of the GTS line. Both have dual disc braking at the front and rear, complemented by an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) to maintain control of the vehicle on a variety of road conditions. The Vespa GTS 250 itself is positioned for riders who want to upgrade from a smaller-capacity scooter to enjoy much more aggressive acceleration and engine response on the road.
As for the On The Road (OTR) Jakarta prices, the Vespa GTS 150 is sold at around Rp84,000,000 for the GTS Classic 150 up to Rp89,800,000 for the GTS Super Sport 150. The Vespa GTS 250 is offered from Rp97,000,000 for the regular version up to Rp102,000,000 for special editions such as the 80th Anniversary. Given that an investment in this big premium scooter is quite high, covering it with a body fit protector from Cover SMC can be the best step to keep the paint shiny and the body looking well cared for and free from scratches while parked.
